The 2009 Mid-Atlanitic went off without a
hitch. I must say it was one of the most put together shows I've ever been to. The promoters; Darlene Malecki and Kevin
DeHaven, have really done their homework. The competitors gift bags, awards, and competition T-shirts were out of this world.
The venue was very audience friendly, there wasn't a single bad view in the theater. The show in itself, was run very smoothly
and did not exacerbate in length given the number of competitors.
The McGlohon Theater was a huge success; selling out, while hosting nearly 100 competitors,
over 15 vendors, and Jay Cutler's debut as Mr. Olympia 2009. I must say, you couldn't get any better than this for your your
first year of promoting. Darlene and Kevin should be very proud of their accomplishments this year. In fact, I'm thinking
they will need a larger venue for next year's event.
The host hotel ALOFT was within walking distance of the venue and made it easy for competitors
to get to and from locations. The competitors enjoyed the closeness of the Epicenter and it's restaurants; as post competition
yielded food and drink to many of those in need of long awaited cheat meals.
They are looking to have the next Mid-Atlantic Show on October 2nd, 2010. I can only imagine this show
becoming bigger and better, as the years progress. Darlene and Kevin have found their calling, as Charlotte's newest NPC bodybuilding
show promoters.
I wish them all the best in their up and coming
shows. I look forward to seeing all of you there!!!
